Choirs around the country have spent the majority of the past 15 months meeting on Zoom. This has allowed choirs to stay in touch, keep going, and maybe even to take part in a “virtual choir” project. But nothing beats the experience of singing together live.

With restrictions on amateur singing lifting along with other things on July 19th, this is a great opportunity to meet with other singers for the first time in a long time, and share beautiful music in the generous acoustic of Pond Square Chapel, Highgate.

Of course, Covid is still a worry. For this reason, numbers will be limited to ensure social distancing of 1m. It is assumed that all participants will be double-jabbed, and the wearing of masks is at the discretion of each participants. The chapel is large and well-ventilated. Participants are encouraged to take a lateral flow test on the day of the course. Seating will be pre-allocated, to assist with track-and-trace.

The course will run twice, on two consecutive days: Friday 6th and Saturday 7th August. There will be different music at each, so you are welcome to book for both days, and have twice the fun! If you would like to do one day, but are available for either, it would be useful to know this to help maintain a good balance between the voice parts.

The repertoire will be choral classics spanning four centuries. There will be something to suit every taste! PDFs of the scores will be sent in advance to enable participants to familiarise themselves with their parts. Nevertheless, this course is best-suited to those who are used to singing from a score. 

There will also be a focus on vocal technique, so if you are worried that lockdown has negatively affected your voice, this is the perfect course for you.
